On Friday the 12th of May The Bugs Group helped run sports activities at St Bernadette’s Catholic Primary School in Birmingham as part of their Physical Health Day. FootieBugs, YogaBugs, DanceBugs and MultiBugs all worked with classes from the school’s reception and year one classes! The awful weather did not affect the children having a fun and active morning, read on to see what activities everyone participated in.
FootieBugs took the children on a football based story adventures, where Paw Patrol was the theme of the session! The children were able to pick their favourite character and be a part of the Paw Patrol, by finding football pitches, putting out fires and racing against Robo-Dog by dribbling a football as fast as they can!
In YogaBugs, the children flew to Africa, they travelled through the jungle, pitched up a tent overnight and then met lots of animals including lions, giraffes and crocodiles! The yoga-inspired moves were incorporated into the adventure so the children hardly realised they were exercising at all!
And breathe….Children then had some well-deserved time to relax at the end of their YogaBugs adventure!
We saw some fantastic dance moves and routines being created by the children in our DanceBugs sessions! All the children had the chance to be creative with their movement and there was great engagement from all!
MultiBugs gave all the children the opportunity to play a range of different sports and fun games! The children’s favourite activity was Foxes and Farmers, where half the children were the foxes and the other half were farmers. It was up to the farmers to chase and catch the foxes by grabbing their tails!
At the end of the day, all children were awarded with special certificates for their excellent work on physical health day. It left not only the children tired but also our coaches as everyone had worked so hard! The Bugs Group would like to say a massive thank you to all at St Bernadette’s and we hope we will be able to work with everyone again! It is great to see such a fantastic school having a key focus on the health, well-being and physical fitness of their pupils!
